Rob Williams Award for Emerging Environment and Public Policy Leaders
The Environment and Public Policy Section of the Association for Conflict Resolution would like to announce the Rob Williams Award for Emerging Environment and Public Policy Leaders. This award was established in recognition of the late Rob Williams’ commitment and contributions to the field of environmental and public policy dispute resolution and the professional development of its practitioners. The award will be presented this year to an emerging practitioner who demonstrates the promise to exercise the leadership exemplified by Rob.

The EPP Leadership Council encourages developing practitioners with 3-8 years of experience in the field and an interest in future involvement in EPP to apply. The 2010 award recipient will receive a one-year membership in ACR and EPP; waived conference registration for the upcoming EPP Section Conference (May 24) and US Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution’s ECR2010 Conference (May 25-27), both in Tucson. The recipient will also receive a stipend to offset partial cost of conference travel.




This is a tribute to Rob
This is a tribute to Rob Williams and my contemporaries in the field, the next generation of pillars of dispute resolution professionalism. Rob Williams was a familiar young face in Portland among the public policy facilitation crowd web design. He lived in Portland for several years, worked for RESOLVE, completed his PhD at Portland State University and then moved to Colorado for a job with the Meridian Institute. He was an elite triathlete, a friend, and a colleague wireless internet. He was kind, adventuresome, and fun loving. He was a man of unwavering integrity. On one occasion I can remember, Rob refused to be pawned into the role of a “potted plant” by a powerful client in a public meeting dedicated server . He took his job seriously, and he was proud of the quality of the work produced free hosting.
